This accessory for WP 310 allows you to conduct Brinell hardness tests.
The experimental setup consists of a device with a hardened steel ball as test body and a pressure plate for holding the specimen. The device is inserted into the upper crossmember of WP 310 and the pressure plate into the lower crossmember. The specimen is positioned on the pressure plate and loaded with the test body.
A triaxial stress state develops in the specimen, underneath the impressing test body. Then the surface or depth of the lasting impression is measured optically. The Brinell hardness is calculated from test load and impression surface of the spherical segment.
The WP 300.12 measuring magnifier is available as an accessory for the optical measurement of the imprint surface.
A set of specimens is included to carry out experiments. The set contains one aluminium specimen, one copper specimen, one brass specimen and one steel specimen.
