Los mecanismos de leva se enmarcan dentro de los engranajes de transmisión irregular y permiten transformar movimientos de accionamiento regulares en movimientos de salida irregulares con o sin pausa. Por norma general, los mecanismos de leva se componen de las levas, los palpadores y el bastidor. El desarrollo del movimiento deseado se determina con ayuda de la geometría de las levas y se genera con la palpación de un contorno o de un perfil en el palpador.
El equipo GL 110 permite demostrar el funcionamiento de un mecanismo de leva de forma clara. El equipo dispone de levas de diferentes formas. El palpador puede ser de rodillo, de placa plana u oscilante. La medición de desplazamiento permite determinar la carrera. Un disco graduado indica el ángulo de giro correspondiente.
