FL 111 representa una celosía ideal. En el plano, las barras sólo trabajan a compresión y tracción. Las cargas sólo se aplican en los nudos.
El equipo se compone de tres barras, que se conectan entre sí de forma articulada con discos nodales. Una barra de longitud variable permite montar la celosía con diferentes ángulos.
Las barras se encajan en los discos con cierres de muelle. Dos de los discos nodales constituyen los apoyos (fijo y libre) y se sujetan a la base, que es un perfil de aluminio. La carga exterior se aplica al disco nodal superior.
Los fuerzas en las barras se pueden determinar mediante la medida de desplazamientos en los relojes de comparación (en contacto con barras dinamómetricas) situados en el centro de las barras.
